Citizenship ceremonies postponed
Statement by Minister for Justice and Equality, Charlie Flanagan TD
15 October 2017
'In the interests of safety, I have decided to postpone the citizenship ceremonies scheduled for the Convention Centre Dublin on Monday 16 October.
Following the closure of schools and colleges and cancellation of other events in response to the imminent Storm Ophelia, and Met Éireann's status red wind alert, I feel it would be unfair to ask people to travel in potentially dangerous conditions.
The ceremonies will be rescheduled before the New Year, and while I regret any inconvenience caused to those due to receive their citizenship, safety comes first. The Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service will be touch with applicants in the coming weeks with regard to a new date.'
