Community-based CCTV Systems
The Community-based CCTV Scheme was established in 2005 to provide financial assistance to qualifying local organisations towards meeting the capital costs associated with the establishment of local community CCTV systems.
The scheme provides for pre-development (stage 1) grants of up to €5,000 to enable qualifying applicants to investigate the need for CCTV in their area and to complete a detailed proposal. The scheme also provides for development (stage 2) grants of up to €100,000 from the Department of Justice and Equality for the establishment of a CCTV scheme. In addition to this, the Department of Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs provides successful applicants from RAPID areas with a further grant up to a possible maximum of €100,000. To date there have been two major rounds of the scheme advertised, in 2005/6 and 2007. 45 community schemes have been awarded development grants under these two rounds.
The scheme is administered is administered on behalf of the Department by the Department of Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs.
