Criminal Justice Co-operation

One of the key benefits arising out of the Good Friday Agreement has been the enhanced co-operation with authorities in Northern Ireland in the field of criminal justice. In July 2005, the Irish and British Governments signed the Intergovernmental Agreement on Co-operation on Criminal Justice Matters. This agreement has provided a framework for effective practical co-operation across a wide range of areas including rehabilitation of offenders, probation, forensic science, support for victims of crime, sex offenders and exchange of personnel programmes.
