Garda Accommodation Programme

The Garda accommodation programme is based on agreed priorities established by An Garda Síochána. This programme is brought forward in close cooperation with the Office of Public Works, which has the responsibility for the provision and maintenance of Garda accommodation.

The Department maintains an overall policy role, which includes:

• input to overall policies at appropriate fora
• approval of any plans made by the Garda Commissioner under the Annual Policing Plan for the redrawing of district or divisional boundaries or the opening/closure of Garda stations
• arrangements for official openings of new or refurbished Garda stations by the Minister
• provision of budgetary figures and input for the annual Estimates process
