Garda Finance

The division liaises with An Garda Síochána and the Department of Finance in relation to:

• completion of the annual estimates process
• obtaining Department of Finance sanction for expenditure where required
• monitoring expenditure in the Garda Vote
• preparation of briefing material for the Minister as required
• liaising with agencies such as the Ombudsman Commission, Garda Inspectorate and Garda Síochána Complaints Board on financial matters 
 

Funding in 2012

The Garda budget as published by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform in their Revised Estimates for Receipts and Public Expenditure for 2012 is €1.325 billion. Responsibility for day-to-day management of expenditure of the Garda Vote transferred to the Garda Commissioner in July 2006, when the Commissioner was made Accounting Officer for the Vote.
