Irish Prison Service

The Irish Prison Service is an executive agency of The Department of Justice and Equality. It is responsible for the provision of safe, secure custody for people committed to prison by the courts and is a key component in the Irish criminal justice system, ensuring safer community life. The service is committed to managing custodial sentences in a way which encourages and supports prisoners in their endeavouring to live law-abiding and purposeful lives as valued members of society.
