The Applicant companies, collectively described as Superwood, brought a case against Ireland to the European Court of Human Rights alleging unjustified delays in civil proceedings. The Court found a violation of Article 6 § 1 (right to a fair trial within a reasonable time) of the European Convention on Human Rights and awarded €3,800 to the applicants in settlement of the claim.
