Deputy Niamh Smyth asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality the number of Garda stations which have been closed in the Cavan-Monaghan Garda division in the past decade, in tabular form; the number of these buildings that have been sold; if An Garda Síochána has plans for the remaining stations in State ownership; her plans in this regard; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality (Deputy Frances Fitzgerald): As the Deputy will appreciate, the Garda Commissioner is responsible for the distribution of personnel and resources, including decisions in relation to Garda stations and I, as Minister, have no direct role in these matters.
I have asked the Garda Commissioner for the specific information requested and when it is to hand I will inform the Deputy accordingly.
