Strategic Planning

The primary objective of the Department’s strategic planning is the effective and efficient delivery of the Government’s commitments across the broad spectrum of policy areas for which we have responsibility. The business of the Department is wide-ranging and complex and is determined and driven by high-level programmes and strategies including:

  • the Agreed Programme for Government
  • Public Service Agreement 2010-2014
  • the National Action Plan for Social Inclusion 2007–2016
  • the National Drugs Strategy

The Department's strategy statements set out the main objectives and commitments to be implemented and achieved over an agreed period of time, and they are reported upon in the annual reports, which record progress made in their delivery.
