- Implementing and supporting reforms in the Garda Síochána
- Managing the Department's role in the performance management framework of the Garda Síochána including the development of Policing Priorities Strategy Statements and Policing Plans for the Garda Síochána.
- Monitoring the progress on cases taken against the Garda Síochána
